Appointees in this category are normally full-time salaried employees. Individuals holding this type of appointment are tenured.
CLO--The appointment process begins with the submission of a complete Contingent Letter of Offer (CLO) packet which should be sent directly to OAA. OAA will route CLO through Accounting and Budget office and Facilities office. Once both offices have endorsed the CLO packet, OAA can finalize their review. Once approved, OAA will provide department with any changes and will authorize release of the CLO to the prospective candidate.
Alternatively, if the academic appointment will be reviewed and , if acceptable, approved prior to transmission of the packet and of the facts to the recruit, then a Letter of Offer (LO) should be used instead of a CLO.

Advisory review by the BSD Committee on Appointments and Promotions (COAP) is ordinarily required, and all documents are due at the Office of Academic Affairs by noon 3 weeks in advance of the COAP meeting in the EXPECTED FORMAT. Follow these INSTRUCTIONS to reserve a COAP slot.

_____ Letter of assessment from BSCD Master or documentation that one has been requested (for Basic Science Departments and/or if candidate will teach in The College)
_____Teaching evaluations if any are available
_____ Other concurrences, and documents as customary for a department. These might include Section Chiefs' letters and reports of internal promotions committees.
THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE COMBINED IN THE EXPECTED FORMAT AND SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY TO OAA NOON 3 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE COAP MEETING. ORDINARILY PAPER COPIES ARE DUE AT THE TIME OF THE COAP MEETING.

Post-approval/Payroll—Upon approval of appointment and attending privileges, the department should follow all the Work Day steps to ensure all required forms are uploaded completely and correctly. Work Day Reference Guide. All required actions must be completed by the WD payroll deadline to guarantee a paycheck at the end of the month.
